Guest Post: Director of B.E.S.T.

Have you noticed the "Camps and Classes" tab on Savvy Source?  Currently you will find camps (for all seasons) listed for Tucson.  The class list will be coming soon.  There are many different types of classes available in Tucson for kids of all ages.  Today I've asked the director of Beginners Edge Sports Training to explain what they have to offer.  I really like that they offer a non-competitive learning environment for some of the youngest kids.  Sign-ups and classes are starting soon.

Beginners Edge Sports Training welcomes all families to introduce their children as young as 18 months to sports.  For 4 years now B.E.S.T. has brought SoccerTots Arizona, Lil Sluggers Baseball and SlamDunkerz Basketball to communities around Arizona.  Our focus has and will always be to introduce young children to sports in a non-competitive and fun environment.  Our goals are to get them introduced to the skills necessary to play in the world of competitive sports.  Fun and learning is always stressed and we are now offering these programs in and around Tucson.

SoccerTots Arizona is the #1 professional, under 7, fun and non-competitive soccer program in and around the Valley. SoccerTots offers terrific sized classes where kids can enjoy interacting with others, supplies all equipment, a free t-shirt, uses the best professionally created nationally executed curriculum and has professionally trained and paid instructors.

Lil Sluggers Baseball is the #1 and only professional, under 7, fun and non-competitive baseball program in the Valley. Lil Sluggers is a INTRO TO BASEBALL program using a "T" and has been created to introduce children ages 2 up to under 7 years old to the game of baseball. Semi-Private classes (only 7 per class) allows our Coaches to focus on more details when teaching your child the basics.  Parents participate to help the class move quickly through all the exercises.

Lil Sluggers classes focus on developing important baseball skills such as throwing, catching, hitting, and base running. Use our program to bring the basics onto the little league field. Developmentally appropriate equipment and games are used to teach your child the game of baseball in a fun, exciting, and positive environment. For all programs we supply everything except a glove.

SlamDunkerz Basketball is a brand new curriculum based Basketball program in Arizona!  SlamDunkerz is one-of-a-kind and is brave enough to start children at the young age of 3 years old. Don't worry - SlamDunkerz teach children all the way to 12 years old. This fun and non-competitive*, weekly SKILL BUILDING basketball program will get your kids exposed to all aspects of the game including: Ball Handling, Passing, Dribbling, Shooting, Defense, Jumping and the Triple Threat position

The goal and focus of SlamDunkerz is to maintain an energetic and highly active setting that will foster teamwork, individual goal setting and endurance coupled with the most important factor in sports: fun! Don't miss out on having fun as each class ends with a small sided scrimmage.

Room to Run: Best Places to Tire your Preschooler Out

September 27, 2008

The illusive nap can sometimes be hard to come by when our preschoolers are more interested in playing and exploring their world around them. If you are like me, you seek out opportunities to tire them out on purpose so that nap time will not be a battle ground. Here in Tucson we need indoor options for much of the year so here are our favorite places to go. Springs Gymnastics --  Read more...
